SUBJECT:   Please Complete This Confidential Survey to Strengthen Our Comments Opposing
the Proposed 25% Tariff on Fireworks

As reported in a May 15th Advisory, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has published a list of approximately $300 billion in goods imported from China - including fireworks, on which USTR is proposing to impose additional tariffs of up to 25 percent.

This proposal essentially covers all products not already subject to Section 301 additional tariffs and outlines the process for the proposed List 4 commodities including 1.4 and 1.3 fireworks, propellant powders, pyrotechnic articles, safety fuse as well as other materials.

The APA intends to testify and file extensive comments opposing additional tariffs on fireworks and we need your feedback to provide examples of how the proposed tariffs will negatively impact APA member companies. This anecdotal data will be kept confidential and viewed only by APA staff. Data collected will bolster our arguments and help us illustrate how the proposed tariffs would harm the fireworks industry as well as negatively impact a host of organizations and communities throughout the nation.

Please complete this survey (also attached) as soon as possible but no later than Friday, May 24 and return it to Executive Director Julie Heckman at [email protected]. You may also fax the completed survey to (301) 907-9148.

After completing this survey, we encourage your company to submit comments independently from the APA. It is extremely important that as many stakeholders as possible submit comments telling their story about the impact of the proposed tariffs on their business and community.

You may file your comments electronically by June 17 via www.regulations.gov enter docket number USTR-2019-0004

We thank you in advance for your prompt assistance.
