APA Advisory - Employee Retention Credit Expanded

February 10, 2021

TO:             ,

SUBJECT: Free ERC Webinar Hosted by APA's Accounting Firm BDO

The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) was significantly expanded and extended as a part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 which provided additional COVID relief assistance. The ERC may be extremely beneficial to small businesses who were significantly harmed by the pandemic. It is a refundable payroll tax credit for wages paid and health coverage provided by an employer whose operations were either fully or partially suspended due to a COVID-19-related governmental order or that experienced a significant reduction in gross receipts.

During last week’s virtual Winter Education Conference, many attendees participated in the “on demand presentations” including one provided by APA’s accounting firm, Binder Dijker Otte (BDO), on PPP loan forgiveness which included an overview of the Employee Retention Credit.  Many members expressed interest in learning more about the ERC as it could save them significant dollars.

We are pleased to announce that on February 3rd BDO hosted a detailed webinar on the ERC which conflicted with APA’s conference.  However, BDO is graciously making this webinar available to APA members so you can learn in more detail how these new provisions may impact your business and how to monetize the credit.

You can access the webinar here and both download the presentation and watch the webinar. You will need to register as a “BDO Guest” and create a free account (provide your email and create a password) in order to watch the webinar.

We hope this information is useful to APA members.  You are encouraged to contact your CPA or tax professionals for specific guidance and more information on how to apply the ERC.
