Membership Categories

Qualifications for Membership

Membership in the American Pyrotechnics Association (APA) is open to companies, firms, and other entities associated with theU.S.fireworks industry.  Upon acceptance into membership, the applicant agrees to abide by and be subject to, all of the terms, provisions, and obligations of the current APA by-laws, as well as those hereafter adopted.  Additionally, the applicant agrees that it will act in accordance with the APA’s Code of Ethics and not knowingly engage in the manufacture, distribution, or sale of prohibited consumer fireworks or explosive devices

ATF License – If your company is engaged in conducting display fireworks, please submit a current copy of your explosives’ license or permit along with your membership application.

Membership Categories

FULL

This membership category is open to business entities which maintain and operate their principal place of business within the United States of America for the purpose of importing, distributing, or manufacturing fireworks and other pyrotechnic products for sale and use within theU.S.  This category also includes domestic companies involved in the design and production of public fireworks displays.   Full members may hold office and are accorded voting privileges provided they are up-to-date with dues obligations and comply with all association rules, regulations, & by-law requirements.  Dues for this category are based on the previous year’s gross domestic sales from fireworks or gross revenues generated from conducting display shows. 

COMMERCIAL USER

This category is for business entities such as theme parks & theatrical productions that are commercial users of fireworks.  Commercial User members may hold office and are accorded voting privileges provided they are up-to-date with dues obligations and comply with all association rules, regulations, & by-law requirements.  Dues for this category are based on the total number of fireworks productions held the previous year.

INTERNATIONAL

This category is for companies with principal offices outside theU.S.that are engaged in the manufacture and/or export of fireworks.  Applicant agrees that all merchandise shipped is in full compliance with all existingU.S.state and federal laws pertaining to construction and transportation. International members do not have voting privileges in the association.  Dues for this category are based on the total number of containers shipped to theU.S.the previous year.

SUPPLIER

This category is open to either U.S.or foreign companies, corporations, or individuals that supply materials and/or services to the fireworks industry and are not engaged in the importation, distribution, or sale of fireworks or pyrotechnic articles.  Supplier members are not accorded voting privileges in the association.  Dues are a flat fee.

FIRE SERVICE

This category is open to either individuals or entities involved in the inspection, certification, or use of fireworks.  Fire Service membership does not carry voting privileges.  Dues are a flat fee.
